The Collector said that the carnival was intended to encourage tourist inflow to Karaikal district and also to contribute to the growth of the district that drew pilgrims to the famous Lord Saneeswara Bhagwan temple at Tirunallar. A fourday Karaikal Carnival 2006 festival of music dance and culture would begin here from January 14 coinciding with the Pongal. The carnival will also showcase ethnic food festival jointly put up in association with the Karaikal Chamber of Commerce at the Karaikal beach on January 15 and 16.
